Fat Bitches Blog Tour

Here is a blurb about the book!

Big girls need love, too, but at what cost?

Lilly is loaded, not only with money, but with weight. Both things she could do without. But even with her undesired millionaire status, she doesn’t hold on to false hopes of finding true love. So when a sexy stranger comes into her life dripping with seduction, she finds it hard to resist. The bigger they are the harder they fall and Lilly falls straight through the floor in love with Mr. Sexy. Too bad he’s there for all the wrong reasons.

The chance of losing it all will make you do some crazy things and Devin’s willing to do whatever it takes to keep his life together. All seems lost when out of nowhere he’s approached by a Millionaire Momma with an offer he can’t refuse. But even a womanizer like Devin has a heart and when the short, chunky girl with the carefree attitude breaks through his icy fa├žade, he finds that losing everything takes on a whole new meaning.

Bloggers love bloggers

I would love to thank Tamara of The Indie Shop for putting this fabulous idea together!!!
I got to interview one of my all time FAVORITE blog ladies of Tsk Tsk, What to Read.  I love these ladies bunches like Honey Bunches of Oats.

So read on and have fun! I know I did!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!! Let me tell you I am friggin floored I get to interview you!!! If I start to spit crazy random things it is because I am having a fan blog girl moment. *takes a deep breath* So, when did you start your blog and why?

Kat: We started the blog in January of 2012... Yep, that is right, we just turned 1... We also are doing a celebration of our Blogoversary The why you ask? Well for me, I wanted to connect with people that loved the same books as me. It has been a whirlwind this past year and have met some fantastic bloggers... *cough, Jaime, cough*----

Jaime: *blushes* well golly ladies.  I love you too!!

Shell: We love you, Jaime. And for the record- WE fangirl- ALL. THE. TIME.
I really wanted to blog because I spent so much time on Facebook and goodreads talking to other book lovers (readers AND bloggers), and authors. It seemed like the natural next step, but one I didn't have the guts to take alone. Along came... and the rest is history.

Jaime: And did you have a special event over the course of your time that has stood out?

Kat: A special event over the last year that has stood out?? Wow... HARD!!! For me, it would be going to the Decatur book festival and meeting Shelly Crane, K.A. Tucker, Carol & Adam Kunz, Tiffany King, Michelle Leighton, Amy Bartol, Courtney Cole, Fisher Amelie... Blog wise... Participating in the On Dublin Street blog tour... Sam is wonderful and just being on that tour was awesome!!---
Jaime:  I LOVE SAMANTHA!!!

Shell: So many already on the blog. Some great tours. The best fun- our character interviews with Samantha Young's cast from her Fire Spirits and On Dublin Street series and Gracen Miller's Road to Hell stars. FUN. HOT. SEXY. And...H.I.L.A.R.I.O.U.S.

I've been lucky enough to hit some cool events. This past year included the Tiger's Destiny Launch Party, and a big tour with Becca Fitzpatrick (AND Drew as Patch!!!), Elizabeth Miles, Tonya Hurley and Kresley Cole. Let me just say the five-some was AWESOME! They hung around and chatted and posed for fun pictures for HOURS! Unheard of. And yes, Drew/Patch is ADORABLE!
As far as Colleen's TD event? She always draws a big crowd at Powell's Books, but this was a record setting standing-room-only affair. And she out did herself with the giveaway goodies.

Jaime: How do you decide what books to read and review?

Kat: Well there are a number of things for me---following bloggers with my interests, good reads, personal interest/likes, blog tours--- sometimes it might just be seeing an amazing cover and then reading an intriguing synopsis to lure me in...----

Shell: Hmm. It really just happens most of the time now, between tours and review requests. My own personal picks usually come from authors I already love- and those they follow. I have a few bloggers I stalk and they definitely influence my choices, especially with debuts. Now how do I actually pick my books??? GAWD! Honesty, I'm a cover whore. Yep. Cover first, synopsis next- then other people's opinions.

Jaime: I must ask, how many hours get put into your blog on a weekly basis?

Kat: LOL... Should I say that it is a part time job?? At least 20 hours a week....----

Shell: It sure is a part-time job. Sometimes it seems like more. Easily 20 hours with reviews, interviews and introductions. Kat does all of the actual posting so she's the one that gets to fight with Blogger and Rafflecopter when they're being buggers. And for that I am eternally grateful.

Jaime:  Rafflecopter codes scare me.  They never work for me either Shell, don't feel bad.

Jaime: Do you two actually know each other? In real life I mean?

Kat: Well, I have not met Shell out in the real world... We met through a mutual group we are in.. But she has become one of my best friends... So we are not just blog partners... We are actual friends too!!----

Shell: As close as we are most people are surprised to learn we've never met in person. We quickly became friends in our group and someone suggested we give a blog a go. We're very different, but so compatible. It's a great partnership. We each have the freedom to be ourselves and choose what we please. We just work really well together. Like two sides of a coin. And Kat is the one of the sweetest, most supportive, BEST friends I've ever had. She totally ROCKS.

Jaime:  awww that's soooo sweet!!! *grabs tissue and dries eyes*

Jaime: Now, okay business questions are over! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA time for the winky do questions. Now, tell me *leans in to Shelley and Kathryn* who would you love to have as a book husband? Hmmm???? Or maybe I should ask how many book husbands do you have? LOL

Kat: BAHAHAHAHA!!!! Well, I do have one that stands out first... But my list is extremely long... Bones from the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost ranks number 1 for me... But a few others would be Braden from On Dublin Street by Samantha Young Ash from The Iron Fey by Julie Kagawa Daemon Black from the Lux series by Jennifer Armentrout Oh goodness... You can find my list here... http://www.goodreads.com/list/user_vote/806898 ---

Shell: Have you seen my Facebook page???? LOL. I have a few book boyfriends/husbands. I'd have a harem if I could- since they're mostly alphas, I don't see that happening. My #1's rarely change, but I do have a few... JERICHO BARRONS (!!!!!) from the Fever series, Micah Dominus from the Road to Hell series, Niall from Wicked Lovely, Ashallayn'darkmyr Tallyn (Prince Ash) from the Iron Fey, Han Alister from The Seven Realms, Ren AND Kishan from the Tiger's Curse saga, Daemon Sadi from the Black Jewels saga, Edward from Twilight... How much time do we have??? Yeah, it goes on and on. I acquired a few more in 2012. Definitely some hot new beefcake out there.

Jaime: Now is there an evil hussy that you wanted to hurt to make sure she didn't get your man?

Kat: LMAO.... Isn't there always... *leans in to Jaime* and let's just say... He always ends up with me!! ;)--

Jaime:  Well I had no doubt about that Kat!  A man would have to be a fool to pass you up!

Shell: *sshhh* Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. *wink*

Jaime:  good point!  LOL

Jaime: Okay final question, one you asked me. What world from a book would you want to live in? Any world.

Kat: Well crap... Came back to pop us in the ass with this one... Well if I am choosing the "world" itself... I am going to have to say The Iron Fey by Julie Kagawa... The mystical magical world of the fey she created was so unique and enticing... I just want to crawl inside and never leave..---

Shell: Ha! You had to see that coming, Kat. There are so many, but really it's not a hard choice for me.
I have three worlds I never EVER want to leave...
Cinda Williams Chima's Seven Realms is absolutely amazing. Old world simplicity mixed with magic and politics. At times stark, bleak and always stunning. There's just something magnetic about these lands so carefully laid out and wonderfully illustrated. The map of the realms is one of my favorite things.
The Nevernever of the Iron Realm is all at once beautiful and terrifying. Julie's descriptions paint a perfect picture of Tir nog nag. So much so that anytime we're in the Wldywood or the like, my heart races until I know we've escaped safe and sound.
The third is Anne Bishop's Black Jewels world. Witches (none like you've seen before)- powerful and ancient in an old world setting that borders on the edge of modern society. Again intricate, beautiful and terrifying.
Seeing a pattern here?

Jaime: I definantly see the pattern love. Thank you so much for joining me!

Kat: Thank you so much for having us... It has been a real pleasure getting to know you better... Maybe we can do something in the future between our two blogs??? ----

Jaime:  EEEPPPP. I would most definantly be honored.  *breathes heavily, gasping* Now can you go away so I can hyperventilate in a paper bag please? *grabs a paper bag and breathes* Love you! Mwah!

Shell: LOL, Kat. Yes, now we can breathe again. And drink. Do we have beverages laying around? *heads to the fridge and grabs a couple of bottles*... Micah Kool-aid, Nix Nectar, anyone?!? Jaime? Once you go...*Kat grabs the Kool-aid from Jaime's hand* I don't think she's ready for that, Shell. *Shell shrugs and chugs it herself* Yeah, you're probably right.

Thanks for making our first ever blogger interview so fun, Jaime. We <3 you to bits.

Thank you ladies for being a part of this with me.  I am so grateful to have met you and I really want to say that I meant what I said, I would truly be honored to partner up with you in anything you have going on.  You two are a great crime partners....crime?  yup I meant that.  I would love to be somewhere on your evil crusades.  TO THE TSK MOBILE!!!

ELFIN by Quinn Loftis

Elfin Blog Tour
Elfin
By: Quinn Loftis

Synopsis
Before tonight Cassie Tate’s biggest concerns were whether she could pass Algebra and how she was going to keep Elora, her best friend, from dressing her in a skimpy fairy costume for Halloween. Her feet were firmly planted in suburban reality and she had no reason to believe her life would be anything but that of a typical teenager. That is until tonight, when Cassie saw something that no human was ever supposed to see; in the blink of an eye she was thrown into the world of the Light and Dark Elves.

He comes from a realm where light and dark have fought for millennia. He is of a race known to humans only in myths and legends. The darkness that lives inside him is a part of both who and what he is and it makes him the most gifted spy and assassin in the history of his time. His life is not his own; he lives in the service of the Dark Elf King. He slays who he must, has mercy on no one, is relentless in his hunt, and never tires of seeing his prey fall. He is Triktapic, assassin, spy, most feared of the Dark Elves.

Now, in the midst of his King’s complicated plans to expand the Dark Elves’ holdings into the mortal realm, for the first time, Trik finds his loyalties divided. For no Elf, Dark or Light, can turn away from their Chosen.
The questions must be asked, does love really cover a multitude of sins? Can true love actually conquer all or will his darkness consume those around him until all that stands is an assassin with the blood of the mortal realm on his hands?
Review:
Well, besides the few choice bad words I wanted to tell Quinn for leaving me hangin' like that at the end, (Trust me, I am sure she knows exactly what I wanted to say. )  I absolutely could NOT put this book down.

Waking Up Married By Mira Lynn Kelly

Overview

Her first thought: "Who are you?"

It's the morning after her cousin's bachelorette party in Vegas and Megan Scott wakes up with the mother of all hangovers. Even worse, she's in a stranger's penthouse having woken up with something else as well—a funny, arrogant, sexy husband!

Up until now, finding even a boyfriend had seemed impossible—been there, got the broken heart, sworn off men for good. Then a few martinis with Carter no, Connor Reed and she's gone from first meet to marriage in one night!

Megan wants a lawyer. But Connor's shocking bombshell?

"I don't want a divorce."

My Take On It
I found this book while perusing free eBooks and I am so glad that I did!  This story is about a girl named Megan who after a drunken night in Vegas wakes up married to a gorgeous man named Connor Reed. Her first thought is divorce and doing it quick. But Connor has a different idea, a proposition.  He is not looking for love, just someone to be in a relationship with and have a family. While Megan wants to have a baby via a sperm donor, she isn’t looking for a long term relationship. The deal? Live with him for 3 months as his wife and see if the arrangement can be permanent. Can a relationship really last if love is not involved?

I got wrapped into this book from the first turn of the page. I instantly liked Megan and Connor.  While the idea of two strangers living together as husband and wife seems a little crazy, I gave it a chance to believe in it.  I found myself quickly reading and turning the pages because I could wait for what happens next.   So do yourself a favor and pick up this book. The best part about it! It’s free!!

PHANTOM

 Phantom by Laura DeLuca

SYNOPSIS:
The “Phantom” was a musical phenomenon that Rebecca had always found enchanting. She had no idea that her life was about to mirror the play that was her obsession. When her high school drama club chooses “Phantom” as their annual production, Rebecca finds herself in the middle of an unlikely love triangle and the target of a sadistic stalker who uses the lines from the play as their calling card.

Rebecca lands the lead role of Christine, the opera diva, and like her character, she is torn between her two co-stars—Tom the surfer and basketball star who plays the lovable hero, and Justyn, the strangely appealing Goth who is more than realistic in the role of the tortured artist.

Almost immediately after casting, strange things start to happen both on and off the stage. Curtains fall. Mirrors are shattered. People are hurt in true phantom style. They all seem like accidents until Rebecca receives notes and phone calls that hint at something more sinister. Is Justyn bringing to life the twisted character of the phantom? Or in real life are the roles of the hero and the villain reversed? Rebecca doesn’t know who to trust, but she knows she’s running out of time as she gets closer and closer to opening night. Only when the mask is stripped away, will the twenty first century phantom finally be revealed.

Phantom was provided to me in exchange for an honest literary review:

Wow. I must say that this was a wonderful high school rendition of Phantom of the Opera. It reminded me a bit of Sweet Valley in a good way lol I do love Sweet Valley!!!
The plot, the love triangle between a girl and 2 boys, and murder. Who knew such a young person could be capable of that? It was a great read! A page turner for me but I like these sorts of books. It reminded me of my high school books. No wait it reminded me of RL Stine's Fear Street books. I loved it!!!

In a quaint town, deep in south Texas, this story leads Isis onto the path of impermissible love and captivating life-changing truths. Isis Martin's journey is sure to leave any reader ravenous for more."

If that overview doesn't make you want to grab this book, here is an excerpt from it that leaves your drooling for more!

“You haven’t even asked me what my name is,” he finally spoke.
“Oh. Sorry.” My face grew bright red. I didn’t have the guts to ask him now that he had put me on the spot.
We continued walking down the hallway. Right before we turned the corner he stopped walking.
“I see you’re the shy type.” He tried to analyze me.
“Not at all.” I threw my hair back over my ear.
He started advancing toward me and pinned me against the white hallway wall. My heart started to race.
“Well, aren’t you going to ask me what my name is?” he pressed.
“Don’t…don’t try anything. I can scream.” I could feel my throat drying up. “The security guards will come right away if you pull anything.”
His laugh echoed against the hallway walls.
“I just want you to know my name.”
I took a side step, but he was quick to follow.
“I’m going to tell you my name, since you’re too shy to ask.”
My heartbeat was at my neck, while my mind sounded off all the things I should do: “I should yell. I should punch him in the gut.”
I was frozen like a deer in front of headlights.
“It’s David…” He slowly leaned in toward my face, “…and I’m real.” I suddenly recognized that voice. I opened my mouth in an effort to scream at the top of my lungs. He pressed his hand over my mouth muffling my poor attempt at crying out for help.
“I win,” he grinned.
My entire body trembled frantically as I felt the blood plummet from my head and down to my feet. I was no longer breathing. I started to feel a cold numbness. Everything turned black. My legs caved in taking my consciousness with them.

Our Review of Creatura
First off, can I just say that I really liked this story!   Isis Martin is a 17 year old senior in high school who suffers from insomnia.  She has a reason for her insomnia though because every time she does manage to get some sleep, she has terrible dreams!  She goes to this gorgeous place in her dreams, but there is always this evil beast that is there and will not leave.   With the help of her psychiatrist (not to mention, her best friend, Andy’s, dad), she starts writing in a journal about the dreams that she has been having and thinks that maybe she can change the outcomes of them.  One night, she decides to confront the creature and gives him a challenge: If you are real, then prove it to me.  The beast leaves and she goes into a peaceful slumber.
However, while at school, a new student shows up and if you read that well written blurb above about the book, then you know his name is David and, well, you guessed it, he’s the beast that has been terrorizing her dreams. David is hot and I do love me a blue eyed, black haired tall drink of water.  (Forgive me for a minute, while I swoon!).
I do not want to give too much of this book away because you need to read it! Here are just some little hints to make you go grab this book right now and read it!!
David and Isis are pretty much inseparable after he reveals himself.  Technically, they shouldn’t be together at all, him being a deity and she is a human after all ;)
Isis has an ex-boyfriend, Gabriel, who broke her heart, and he shows up wanting her back.
David has twin brothers and an awesome mom.  Nyx, David’s mom, sees something peculiar in Isis, but what could it be?
Finally, I am really very good at figuring out endings to books, but Ms. Cab, you had me.  I didn’t see that ending coming.

So people go and buy this book!  Read it, love it, review it!  I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did!

Once Upon a Castle By Alan S. Blood

Presents “Once Upon a Castle”!
A fantasy novella by author Alan S. Blood
Synopsis:
Uncle Toby had said that there would be castles to explore, with ghosts and things. This helps to cheer up the glum twelve-year old Lovell twins, Tom and Mary, leaving their schools and loving parents to be evacuated to wild Northumbria during World War II. Then the adventure begins.
They live with their Aunt Victoria and Uncle Leslie, meet the loveable ‘Mrs M’, a strange dog called ‘Scamp’ and, worst, the terrible private tutor, Miss Urquart, from whom they run away to find a mysterious castle seen through an old telescope.
Now they are drawn into bizarre supernatural events of a time-warp between the war itself and ancient warfare. They encounter dark forces, as the story twists and turns, and are even rescued by the Royal Navy. Yet, this is only the beginning of more unexpected tragedies before the twins begin to escape from it all.

Bawaka's Review

This story follows Mary and Tom, two 12 year old twins that live in England during World War II.  During this time, their father and mother both are called away for duties during the war.  This leaves Mary and Tom to go live with their Aunt Victoria and Uncle Leslie.
While the kids are not thrilled in the beginning to be living with them, it takes them on a journey that they are not expecting.  They experience a supernatural happening when attempting to find a castle that they wanted to visit.
If you have children who enjoying reading ghost stories, I am sure that they would like to read this book!  I really enjoyed the way the author wrote this book.  To me, the story wasn’t your typical run of the mill ghost story, it had a different chemistry to it that made it a interesting read.

About The Author:

Alan S. Blood worked in the British Civil Service, Advertising and journalism (edited three publications) before qualifying as a Teacher from the University of Reading, England. He enjoyed a long, distinguished career in the Teaching Profession, in both Primary and Secondary levels of education, in several parts of the UK - which eventually led to Senior Management. His main subject area was English and, at one time, he was Head of English and Drama. Throughout, he gained considerable knowledge of literature that children and adolescents enjoy.

Alan now devotes his time to writing novels, plays, screenplays and poetry. He won top award in the‘Hastings International Poetry Festival’ (2003) with his controversial ‘litter’poem ‘CONTRITE CAN CANNOT’. The paranormal genre features in much of his prose work.

‘ONCE UPON A CASTLE’ is a ghost story written for young people (but also enjoyed by adults) set in World War 11. It concerns both a real and a phantom castle based upon Alan’s experience of strange castles on the wild Northumbrian coast of England on cold, dark wintry afternoon.

Alan Blood has widely travelled the world and undertook research in Chile where some of his supernatural crime thriller ‘CRY OF THE MACHI A Suffolk Murder Mystery’ is set. He was previously a Cotswold Morris Dancer and the novel is a conflict between the forces of good and evil linking a Chilean ‘Machi’ and ‘organised crime’ to murders in a Suffolk Morris Men side.

Alan enjoys wildlife photography in the Welsh countryside, painting and scraperboard engraving. He lives in a Victorian (1873) house below the Cambrian Mountains of Mid-Wales.

What Critics Are Saying About
“Once Upon a Castle”
"Once Upon a Castle transports children to England in 1939 and weaves facts into a ghost story revolving around a mysterious castle beautifully. I immediately fell in love with the story as I read and realized that the writer had not watered down his choice of words for the intended audience. The vocabulary is rich and descriptive, pulling you in.

I wish I could have given the story five stars, but I felt the story was underdeveloped in the end, leaving out details and it ended too hastily. I feel that with a little more explanation of the ghost story itself it would be perfect. Perhaps even knowing there was sequel that continues the children's escapades and ties up the unanswered questions would suffice.

From a child's perspective, my 9-year-old son completed chapter one grinning from ear to ear after I assigned it to him for daily homeschool reading. He then informed me that he couldn't wait to read more.

Notes for Homeschoolers & Parents: The word "damn" is used twice within the text, many locations are noted throughout the text providing an excellent opportunity to map them after reading each chapter. There is more than an adequate amount of vocabulary words for your child throughout the text. I would suggest pre-reading and choosing words to discuss with your child before each chapter. I personally highlighted each word in Kindle ahead of time for my son to review while reading and asked him to highlight any others that he was unsure of.
